"It all started in the year 2020 when I was diagnosed with prostate cancer, right at the height of the COVID pandemic. It was an incredibly difficult time for me, both physically and emotionally. The fear of the unknown, coupled with the isolation brought on by the pandemic, left me feeling lost and overwhelmed.

 

During this challenging period, my nurse practitioner, Alyssa Rowe was a constant source of support and guidance. She patiently answered all my questions, no matter how many I had or how anxious I felt. After each radiation treatment, when I was at one of the lowest points in my life, she was there-not just as a medical professional but as a compassionate human being who genuinely cared about my well-being. During this period, over the next two years, I struggled with atrial fibrillation (a-fib). My heart was constantly racing, which scared me deeply. When I first went to the doctor, I was told, 'Oh, you'll be fine, you'll get through this quickly.' But my condition persisted, and I felt increasingly worried.

 

That's when Alyssa stepped in. Unlike others, she took my concerns seriously and insisted I undergo several tests. Her persistence was life-changing. She not only recommended a specialist who could provide the care I needed, but she also made herself available to speak with me at all hours, offering reassurance and guidance. Alyssa explained the ablation procedure in a way that calmed my fears and gave me confidence. Thanks to her thorough approach and unwavering support, I underwent the procedure twice, and each time, I felt a little more hopeful and cared for. I am so grateful for Alyssa's dedication and for treating me not just as a patient, but as a person.
